SCCTC General Information

Career Passport

The Career Passport is designed to be used as a professional portfolio. The portfolio is a reflection of the student's occupational skills and achievements during career-technical training. This passport is intended to help employers evaluate a graduate's competency to perform a job.

Graduation

Upon successful completion of a career-training program and academic courses, SCCTC students graduate and receive a high school diploma from their associate school. SCCTC students will also attend a Convocation ceremony where they receive their Career-Technical Certificate and Career Passport.

Transportation

Associate schools will transport students to and from the SCCTC. Within the policy of their associate school, students may choose to drive to the campus. Students should not arrive on SCCTC property before 7:43 a.m. unless by teacher request and under direct teacher supervision. Students who choose to use private transportation are responsible for arriving on time and must purchase a $10.00 parking permit.

Student Fees and Fee Assistance

Students of participating school districts may attend SCCTC tuition-free. However, depending upon the program, students may be required to pay for tools, uniforms and technology fees. Financial aid and payment plans are available to students who may be unable to pay these fees.

Students with financial need may request assistance in paying the career technical program costs (uniforms, tools, etc.). The amount of aid provided will be determined on the basis of financial information contained in the application. Financial information may be required from parents or guardians in order to determine eligibility for assistance in payment of fees.

The fee assistance program is funded through SCCTC. Certain regulations must be followed in accordance with the distribution of such funds.

They are as follows:

  1. 1. The student/parent/guardian must assume all responsibility for making the proper arrangements to receive such funds. All arrangements for payment plans and assistance should be completed by the due date at the end of the first grading period.
  2. 2. The $25 deposit for registration is still mandatory for students applying for fee assistance.
  3. 3. The school will keep materials of students who do not complete the program successfully.

Early Placement

The Early Placement Program permits students to take part-time employment in their area of preparation. The program has two purposes: work experience and early employment. Students qualify for early placement based on grades, attendance and OGT status.

Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship Program is an innovative approach to formal education. Students registered in an apprenticeship program will rotate in career-technical and academic training. The student will work with a full-time master craftsperson or journey-person who is designated as a mentor for the student apprentice. The journey-person is either a person who has completed a formal apprenticeship, or someone who has at least four to five years of experience, able to demonstrate a broad range of abilities within the occupation, and is performing the skills required of the occupation without assistance or further instruction. Students will gain valuable employment skills, earn money while learning, receive a high school diploma and a career technical certificate while acquiring training towards an apprenticeship certification.
