Today's graphic arts and communications field has a new face that is shaped by emerging computer technology. The SCCTC Computer Graphic Arts program gives students a firsthand understanding of the exciting opportunities available in graphic arts, while helping them master the skills they need to excel in the competitive marketplace. Study the business of art, design, layout and composition theory, lettering, typography, production art procedures, perspective, web page design, and desktop publishing using Macintosh computer systems. Learn various rendering techniques using pencil, pen and ink, markers, and transparent and opaque painting in water-based media. Students develop skills while working in a Computer Graphic Arts lab with an experienced instructor. During the two-year program, assignments are developed that will help each student create a portfolio of their work. Students may earn college credits toward a degree at Clark State Community College, Pittsburgh Institute of Art and Sinclair Community College by completing the Computer Graphic Arts Program. Many graduates continue their education to earn a degree. More than 70 percent of graduates in the Computer Graphic Arts Program attend a four-year college after high school. This program teaches skills that students can use to find a job while studying courses in art. Facts
