From cars, to toys, to appliances, engineers design the parts that make our daily lives easier, safer and more enjoyable. The manufacturing industry, which remains a major contributor to our U.S. economy, relies on engineers' technical skills and related specialty applications for a host of exciting and challenging careers. The SCCTC Engineering and Science Technologies program helps students gain the insight and the hands-on experience they need to move on to advanced education opportunities or to enter the workplace in a technical role.
Experts estimate that three out of four job openings in the next century will require the skills that a technical education provides. In the Computer Aided Drafting & Design Program you learn skills that will help you design your own ticket to a technical career in the drafting field or a college degree in engineering.
Students develop skills by working in a drafting lab learning how to use drafting software to design and create projects. CTP CADD students use a wide range of computer-based tools that assist engineers, architects and other design professionals in their design activities.
Students may earn college credits toward a degree at Clark State Community College or at Sinclair Community College by successfully completing this program. More than 70 percent of students completing this program opt to go to college after graduation. This program provides students with skills they can use to earn money while they pursue advanced training.
