Ohio's First Career Technology Center - Since the first semester in 1967, more than 14,000 Clark County students have passed through the doors of the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (formerly the Springfield-Clark County Joint Vocational School) campus. There are eight buildings on the campus that house the programs for High School students.

Our Campus Administrators and Deans

Mr. Rick Smith, HHS Dean and SCCTC Executive Director.

Rick Smith, Executive Director and Dean of the HHS School

Mr. Rick Smith assumed the Executive Director position at SCCTC in July of 2010. He previously served as an administrator at Tolles CTC in Plain City and at Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion. This is Mr. Smith's 10th year in Career Tech Education and his 7th as an administrator. Mr. Smith grew up in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Youth Development from Concordia-St. Paul University. He completed his credentials for principal licensure through the University of Findlay, and his superintendent's licensure through Ashland University. He has served as a social studies teacher. Mr. Smith is excited to serve SCCTC and the area community. In addition to serving as Exec. Director and the Dean of HHS, Rick is also the lead administrator for academic curriculum and supervision.

Ms. Amy Schakat, Dean of our I-TECH school.

Amy Schakat, Asst. Director and Dean of the I-TECH School

Mrs. Schakat is a native of Hilliard, Ohio and graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in Psychology and Behavioral Science. She returned to school at Urbana University, earning her licensure for Intervention Specialist. Her teaching career began at Indian Valley Middle School in Enon. She has served SCCTC for 8 years as both an Intervention Specialist and as a Special Education Coordinator. She completed her Master's Degree and administrative licensure program through The University of Scranton. Mrs. Schakat is passionate about Career Technical Education and serving the students of Clark County. As Asst. Director, Mrs. Schakat also serves as the lead administrator for special education delivery and supervision.

Mr. Josh Jennings, Dean of M-TEC

Josh Jennings, Asst. Director and Dean of the M-TEC School

Josh Jennings began his work as Assistant Director at Springfield-Clark CTC August 1, 2009. Prior to that time he was the Production Agriculture and Agri-Business instructor at Northeastern High School in Clark County. Josh grew up in Clark County and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Workforce Development and Education from the The Ohio State University. He completed his coursework for principal licensure at Antioch University McGregor in 2008. In addition to duties as Asst. Director, Mr. Jennings serves as the curricular lead for Workforce Development and supervision.
